This page covers legionofterror.gg, the site of the Legion of Terror player guild. We collect as little as we can. We never ask for your email address, and nothing here is for sale.

The short version

  • You sign in with Battle.net and link Discord. We receive your Battle.net account ID and BattleTag, and your Discord ID and username. We do not receive your email address or your passwords.
  • We store what you choose to tell us: characters, professions, raid role, availability, a short bio and your applications.
  • Our analytics use no cookies. The only cookies we set keep you signed in.
  • Blizzard character data is refreshed or deleted within 30 days.
  • You can disconnect Battle.net and delete your data yourself. Settings has a button for it.
  • We do not sell your data and we do not run ads.

What we collect

When you sign in with Battle.net

Blizzard tells us your Battle.net account ID (a number) and your BattleTag. We ask for permission to read your World of Warcraft profile, but Blizzard does not offer WoW Forever character data through its API yet, so today you enter your characters yourself. We do not receive your email address, your password or any payment details.

When you link Discord

Discord tells us your Discord user ID and username (the identify permission). We use it to confirm who you are, to give you your guild roles and to message you about your application and raids. We do not read your messages or your list of servers.

What you enter

Your username. Your characters: name, race, class, level and which guild each is in. Your professions, raid role, raid nights and time zone, and an optional bio. Your answers on applications, including any streamer application. The choices you make about what appears on member pages.

Activity on the site

When you last signed in and were last active, which the inactivity rules in the charter use. Event sign-ups and attendance, and loot reserves, awards and forum posts once those features open. Officers can add notes, warnings and appeal decisions about members.

Technical data

Our host sees your IP address and browser details when your browser loads a page, as every web host does. We keep a log of sign-ins and of actions in the admin area.

Cookies and analytics

We set the cookies that keep you signed in and nothing else. We count page views with Vercel Web Analytics and measure how fast pages load with Vercel Speed Insights. Both work without cookies, store nothing in your browser and do not follow you from site to site. To tell one day's visitors apart, Vercel uses a one-way hash of request details that changes every day, so it cannot link your visits across days. What we see are totals: which pages were viewed, from which countries, and on which browsers and devices. That is why there is no cookie banner.

We measure the public pages and the sign-in and sign-up pages. We do not measure the member areas: the dashboard, calendar, Legions, member profiles, settings and the admin area.

Error logs

When a page or a request fails, our host records technical details in its logs: the address, the time and the error message. We read those logs to find and fix problems. We may add an error-monitoring service later. If we do, we will update this page and tell members in Discord before it takes effect.

What we do not collect

Your email address, phone number, real name, home address or payment card. When the shop opens, Stripe handles payment cards and Printify prints and ships orders. We receive the order details and the delivery address needed to fulfil your order, and we never see your card number.

Why we use it

  • To sign you in and keep your account secure.
  • To run recruitment: applications, ranks, Legions and Squads.
  • To run raids and events: sign-ups, attendance and loot.
  • To send you notices on the site and in Discord.
  • To keep the guild safe: moderation, the charter and terms, and stopping impersonation and gold selling.
  • To understand how the site is used, and to fix errors.
  • To meet Blizzard's API terms, which require a privacy policy and limit how long we keep their data.

We do not use your data for advertising and we do not build profiles to sell.

Who can see what

  • Anyone. The public pages show totals, such as how many members the guild has and how many seats are open, plus the verified Command roster and the published streamers. They never show member names, rosters, raid times or the calendar.
  • Signed-in members. Other members' profiles, Legion rosters and the calendar, limited by each member's privacy choices. Alts are hidden by default and you choose which characters appear.
  • Officers. What their rank's permissions need. Officers who review applications see applications and the profiles and characters attached to them. Officers who run a Legion see that Legion's members.
  • Founders. Everything above, and the audit log of admin actions.
  • Not shown to other members. Your Battle.net account ID, your BattleTag and your Discord details. Only leaders with the right permission see them, in the admin area.

How long we keep it

  • Your account. For as long as it exists.
  • Blizzard API data. If we import character data from Blizzard's API, it is refreshed or deleted within 30 days, as Blizzard's API terms require. Characters Blizzard can no longer find are deleted.
  • Deleted accounts. When you use Disconnect Battle.net and delete my data, your profile is hidden at once and your data is purged within 30 days.
  • Removed and inactive members. If you are removed from the guild, we keep your account record, warnings and appeal history so we can handle a reapplication or a dispute. They are deleted when you ask, unless we need them to keep a removal in place.
  • Audit logs. Records of admin actions (who changed what, and when) are append-only and kept, so we can settle disputes and spot abuse. When an account is purged, its entries stay but are no longer linked to a person.
  • Analytics and error logs. Held by Vercel for a limited time under its own settings.
  • Backups. Our database provider's backups can still contain deleted data until they roll off on the provider's normal schedule.

Your choices and rights

  • See and change your data. Your profile and Settings let you edit your characters, role, availability, bio and what is visible to others.
  • Disconnect Battle.net and delete my data. Settings has a button with that name. It signs you out, removes your profile from rosters and member pages at once, and queues the rest for deletion within 30 days. If you cannot sign in, ask in Discord and an officer will do it for you after checking it is you.
  • Ask us. Ask in Discord for a copy of what we hold about you, or to correct it. We answer within 30 days.
  • Revoke access. You can remove this site from your Battle.net account settings and from Discord's Authorized Apps at any time. Signing in again links them again.
  • Local law. If the law where you live gives you more rights, such as the right to object to some uses, those apply too. Ask in Discord.

Children

The site is for players aged 13 and over. Blizzard and Discord have their own age rules, which can be higher where you live, and you must meet them to use their services. If we learn that a member is under 13, we remove their account and delete their data.

Who handles data for us

These providers can process data in the United States and other countries. We do not sell your data and we do not share it with advertisers. We may disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the guild or its members from serious harm. If we add a provider, such as an error-monitoring service, we update this list first.

Security

Access to member data is checked on the server for every request, and the database enforces the same rules. We never store your Battle.net or Discord password. No system is perfectly secure. If you find a problem, tell a founder privately in Discord.

Blizzard and trademarks

Legion of Terror is a player guild and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Blizzard Entertainment.

World of Warcraft, Battle.net and Blizzard Entertainment are trademarks or registered trademarks of Blizzard Entertainment, Inc. in the U.S. and other countries. Where we show character data from Blizzard, it is Character data © Blizzard Entertainment, used under Blizzard's Developer API Terms (opens in a new tab).

Changes to this policy

When we change this policy we update the effective date above and tell members in Discord. If a change matters to you, such as a new service that receives your data, we say so in Discord before it takes effect. The terms of use are a separate page.

Contact

Ask in our Discord server (opens in a new tab) and message a founder (the Warlord or a Warbringer). There is no email address for privacy requests, because we do not collect or run email.
